光芒先發投手阿契爾（Chris Archer）雖然6局送出7次三振，但首局投出保送後挨歐提茲砲擊，掉的這2分讓他吞下個人對紅襪的11連敗，也是隊史對單一球隊最長紀錄；而紅襪先發投手帕默藍茲（Drew Pomeranz）在2局下挨轟，但幸好僅是陽春砲，也讓他拿下本季第11勝。

要退休的歐提茲持續創造紀錄，這發2分砲讓他拿下124分打點，打破過去由「無鞋喬」喬·傑克森（Joe Jackson）保有的生涯最後一年123分打點紀錄。

歐提茲之前已打破1986年運動家金曼（Dave Kingman）在生涯最後球季35轟的紀錄，今天這發全壘打則將障礙推進到37轟，也追平賈里格（Lou Gehrig）在生涯長打榜上並列第10。
